Several Multiple Injured in Suspected Antisemitic Attack During Boulder Demonstration
Several A disturbing incident unfolded in Boulder, Colorado, where a man allegedly set multiple people on fire during a public gathering in support of Israeli hostages. Authorities say several individuals sustained burn injuries in what is being investigated as a potentially targeted act of terrorism.
Several The attack occurred at the “Run for Their Lives” event, a weekly demonstration organized by members of the Jewish community to advocate for the release of hostages taken during the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which monitors antisemitic activity, confirmed the event and the attack on social media, noting it took place just before the Jewish holiday of Shavuot — a time of spiritual significance marking the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.
Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn stated Sunday that emergency responders arrived at the scene to find “multiple victims with injuries consistent with burns.” Witnesses and officials said the suspect hurled bottles believed to contain a flammable liquid, which ignited upon impact. The exact number of incendiary devices used remains unclear.
At least two victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, law enforcement officials told CNN. The full extent of the injuries is still being assessed.
The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, was taken into custody at the scene. While local police have said it’s too early to officially declare a motive, FBI officials have already referred to the incident as “a targeted terror attack.” Federal authorities are now reviewing the case to determine potential charges, including terrorism or other federal offenses.
A source familiar with the investigation told CNN that mental health issues have not been ruled out and could influence the nature of any charges filed. The FBI, in coordination with the National Counterterrorism Center and local agencies, is leading the probe.

Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, confirmed that her office is collaborating with the FBI and Boulder authorities. FBI Director Kash Patel also issued a statement via social media, affirming that agents were on the ground and that the incident is being treated with the highest urgency.
“This was a targeted terror attack,” Patel said. “Our team is fully engaged, and we’ll provide updates as more details become available.”
The White House reported that President Donald Trump has been briefed on the incident and is monitoring developments.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect acted alone or if the attack was part of a broader plan. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to piece together the events surrounding the assault.
Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, aligned with the FBI’s assessment by characterizing the Boulder incident as an act of terrorism.
In a statement to CNN, Boulder’s Jewish community expressed deep sorrow over the attack, which targeted participants at the “Run for Their Lives” event on Pearl Street.
“As more details emerge, the state is working with local and federal law enforcement to support the ongoing investigation.
