JetBlue Plane Slides onto Grass at Boston Logan Airport After Landing; No Injuries Reported
A JetBlue flight arriving at Boston Logan International Airport had a minor mishap Thursday morning when it veered off the runway and rolled onto a grassy area while taxiing after landing.
The incident occurred around 11:55 a.m. local time, shortly after JetBlue Flight 312 arrived from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. As the plane was turning off the runway, it left the paved surface and came to a stop on adjacent grass, according to officials with Massport, the agency that operates the airport.
Airport personnel quickly responded by closing the affected runway and arranging for passengers to deplane via portable stairs. Buses then transported them safely to the terminal.
The aircraft involved was a new Airbus A220, manufactured in 2024, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records.
In a statement, JetBlue emphasized its commitment to safety:
“Safety is JetBlue’s top priority.

Tyesha Best, president of the Transport Workers Union of America Local 579, which represents JetBlue flight attendants, also issued a statement confirming that all crew and passengers were unharmed.
“We remain in contact with the company to provide all needed support for those affected,” she said.
The FAA initially issued a ground stop at Logan Airport in response to the emergency, temporarily halting some operations. Though the stop has since been lifted, a ground delay persisted into the afternoon, affecting about 14% of departing flights, according to data from FlightAware.
The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident to determine what caused the aircraft to leave the runway during taxiing.
Despite the scare, the swift response from airport crews and the absence of injuries meant the situation ended without serious consequence—though it serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of air travel, even during routine landings.
