“Jury Tours Home Where Karen Read’s Boyfriend, Officer John O’Keefe, Was Discovered Dead”

Jury The heavy snow and blizzard conditions that once blanketed the Massachusetts home are now long gone.

But the questions surrounding the death of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe on a freezing night in Canton still remain, as jurors visited the property near where his body was discovered.

Jury Karen Read, O’Keefe’s girlfriend, was back in court Friday for her second murder trial.

Nearby, investigators also found shards of glass and patches of blood.

Before the trip to the house on Friday, Judge Beverly Cannone addressed the jurors, explaining that she and the attorneys from both sides would accompany them.

Your role is simply to stop and observe.”

At the scene, both the prosecution and defense pointed out details they believed the jurors should focus on.

Prosecutors claim that Read’s SUV had a broken taillight, with fragments from it found near the scene.

However, during Read’s first trial, her defense team argued that O’Keefe had been beaten inside the house, attacked by the homeowners’ German shepherd, Chloe, and then left outside in the snow to die.

They alleged that police later conspired to cover up the truth by fabricating evidence and lying under oath to protect fellow officers.

What Both Sides Are Saying

During opening statements this week, special prosecutor Hank Brennan told jurors that the state’s case would be built on “facts, science, and data.”

He also said jurors would hear Karen.

Prosecutor Hank Brennan described comments made by a Canton firefighter and paramedic who responded to the scene where John O’Keefe’s body was found.
