Pro Instead, it offers a space where ideas are rigorously examined, policies are critically challenged, and civil discourse is upheld even in difficult moments.”
Protests have reignited across college campuses this spring in response to Israel’s conduct in its war in Gaza.
The conflict began after Hamas, the militant group that has ruled Gaza since 2007, launched a series of brutal attacks in October 2023, killing 1,200 people in Israel and taking hundreds more hostage.
Since then, international organizations have reported that Israel’s military operations in Gaza have killed tens of thousands of Palestinians — the majority of them women and children — and have triggered an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators also assembled at Yale University on Tuesday night to protest Itamar Ben Gvir’s visit.
However, the university did not specify how many students were issued these notices.
Tuesday’s protest came shortly after the group had met with Yale officials to discuss prior policy violations, during which they were warned that further misconduct could jeopardize their privileges, the university said.
The statement added that the event was part of a broader diplomatic visit, noting Ben Gvir had spoken at former President Donald Trump’s estate and met with U.S. Jewish communities earlier in the week.

The task force noted that the university had enforced “time, place, and manner policies,” launched disciplinary investigations into unlawful conduct, and revoked the registration of a participating student group.
Ben Gvir, a far-right figure, has openly expressed admiration for former President Trump and has promoted a controversial plan to resettle Gazans outside of Palestinian territories.
He resigned from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in January, opposing a ceasefire agreement that secured the return of Israeli hostages from Gaza in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
Last October, a group of 90 Democratic members of Congress urged President Joe Biden to impose sanctions on Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, both leaders of far-right nationalist parties in Netanyahu’s coalition.
As part of their solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, protesters at Yale University called on the school to divest from companies tied to Israel’s military operations.
Meanwhile, another Ivy League institution, Harvard, has found itself at the center of the Trump administration’s campaign to crack down on campus demonstrations, which it argues reflect rising antisemitism.
The Trump administration is pressuring Harvard to turn over all internal reports on antisemitism and anti-Muslim discrimination created since October 2023, escalating a standoff that could threaten billions in federal funding as part of a wider effort to bring prestigious U.S. universities under political scrutiny.
